Current state of mind survey.

I saw this survey over on Melissa’s blog the other day and thought it was super interesting, so here ya go!

I feel….

Content, laying on my couch, drinking coconut water, and catching up on blog stuff.

Hot, because I am constantly carrying kids around all day and holding their sweet, but sweaty little hands.

Antsy, because I know there’s someplace else in the world I am meant to be.

I want….

Another cat.

To win the lottery.

For everyone to be nice.

I have….

Two amazing jobs.

Three younger sisters.

A bottle of spiced apple wine in my fridge waiting to be drank.

I am thankful for….

My parents letting me still live with them.

My parents paying for my college.

My parents buying me a car. Apparently they rock.

I would like to….

Travel to every single place in the world I would want to ever possibly want to live before I make a decision.

Have someone put me on a plane to California and make me live there for at least 6 months, because I don’t know what it will take for me to do it on my own.

Adopt all the children in the world that don’t have a home.

I dream about….

THE WEIRDEST SHIT EVER. I’m not even going into detail because I will freak you all out and you will never read my blog again.

I prefer….

Coffee over tea.

The Bachelor over The Bachelorette.

Walking over driving my car.

I am passionate about….

Helping people get healthy and get their lives on track and love their bodies.

Being successful.

I am happy when….

I wake up on a random weekday with no where to go and I can work from home all day.

I leave yoga class.

I eat really good food.

I am looking forward to….

Going to California in August.

Turning 22 and being able to sing, “I don’t know about you, but I’m feeling 22.”

Seeing the Jonas Brothers in July.

I have never….

Ridden on a real roller coaster.

Tried sushi, although I really want to.

Liked big crowds.

I would never….

Ride in a helicopter, unless Ellen was with me.

Give up wine.

Run a marathon. I would die I think.

I am always able to get cheered up….

By wine.

By sleeping.

By watching Real Housewives and remembering things could be worse.

I enjoy….

I appreciate….

My family.

Army people.

Jenna Marbles.

I know….

How to cook.

That I am the most indecisive person in the world and change my mind every 5 minutes.

How to wrap Look at me now by Chris Brown & Busta Rhymes.

I used to….

Count calories like whoa.

Be a competition dancer.

Like to stay up late.

I never expected….

To graduate college and do something completely opposite than what I got my degree in.

To hug Ellen DeGeneres.

To make money doing what I love.

I wish….

That I would just suck it up and move to California already. This would be easier if Ellen would call me already…I’m still waiting lady Smile with tongue out

That I could be Miley Cyrus’ best friend.

That Jillian Michaels would be my trainer.

Your turn!!

Just Like Jello & An Itty Bitty Announcement….

I have a lot to say, but I’m just not sure how to say it yet. Good things though! So until I figure that out, I’m going lighthearted and sticking with a good old-fashioned survey. However, I’m making this one up myself, so I would just adore it if you did it on your blog as well! This one’s an original.

Allison’s Every Little Facet of Health and Life and Stuff Survey Smile

  1. If you could only do one specific type of exercise for the rest of your life what would it be and why? Mine would for sure be yoga. I pick this because I love how toned it makes me feel and look without high-impact movements. I always feel loose, calm, and on my own little “high” when I finish a session.
  2. Approximately how many times a day do you believe you think about your body and/or your health? A million and a thousand and one. Let’s make a movement to stop these silly little thoughts.
  3. What is one food you wish you liked, but you really just don’t? Eggs. I can handle them in baked goods, but no way on their own or in an omelet. The thought just gives me shivers. I don’t know why. I also sometimes wish I liked meat. It makes me feel sick to tell you the truth. Hence, being a vegetarian. These ones are pretty though!
  4. Who has been the biggest help to you throughout your life? My mom, 100%. She has talked me out of some crazy stuff many, many times. When I was having a really rough semester in college, she listened to me cry and throw fits like a 5 year old on a regular basis. She always writes me the sweetest cards and notes and I know that she only really wants me to be happy. She’s also pretty darn cute. SAM_0484
  5. Tell one thing that makes you different from everyone else in the blog world. I was a competitive dancer until I was 17 years old and then actually started out as a dance major in college. I also clearly remember the moment when my eating habits changed (for the worse) for me. I feel like that’s pretty rare. Maybe I’ll write about that one day.
  6. In your opinion, which celebrity (or real-life person!) has the best freaking body in the world? I pick two. Karena and Katrina from Tone It Up.
  7. What time do you typically go to bed and wake up? I get in bed around 10 pm. I fall asleep around midnight. I wake up anywhere between 5:30 am and 7:30 am, usually closer to 5:30. Yuck.
  8. Favorite “healthy” drink? Favorite “unhealthy” drink? Healthy has gotta be water with a ton of lemon. Unhealthy is most definitely a mini-beer shot.
  9. Does your family support and/or agree with your healthy (or any other lifestyle) living habits? Not so much. I oftentimes get made fun of for measuring out portion sizes or buying almond milk instead of using my family’s whole milk that I truly just don’t like. My at-home workouts and extended time at the gym (even though I’m usually training clients) are also ways for them to laugh at me. I feel like they’ve gotten better lately, but sometimes it really just sucks. Everyone deserves to lead the life they want to live without being chastised and reprimanded for it.
  10. Who is one person you could reach out to today that could probably use some encouragement? I’m going to go ahead and say one of my best friends Erica. She just got accepted into the Disney college program (yay, congratulations!) and is graduating college within the month, so she’s got some crazy weeks coming up ahead. I also know she’s reading this and will love the shout out…. Smile with tongue out 10
  11. What is the happiest thing that happened to you today? I had an amazing, amazing, amazing TurboFire! workout! It’s been a long time since my legs felt so much like Jell-O. I love it. That is an intense program my friends. I thought I was in pretty darn good shape, but it’s freaking hard. I sweat. A lot. Before and after: turbo1turbo2
  12. Do you ever push health and fitness on family members, friends, co-workers, etc.? No. Not unless they ask. I feel that is someone’s personal choice and it gets really annoying when someone tries to preach something to you that you really just don’t want to freaking hear.
  13. Are you an indoor or outdoor person? Favorite activity? I am an indoor person, mainly because the weather where I live is so darn crappy. My favorite indoor activity is to do some yoga on a rainy day, drink some coffee, and read an awesome book. I am WILD. If I lived elsewhere (like LA….) I would be a total outdoor girl. Biking and walking on the beach would be at the top of my list.
  14. Do you plan ahead what you’re going to eat later that day? I totally do. Before I fall asleep at night, I typically make a list in my head of what I will be eating the next day. It’s boring, so it helps me fall asleep! For example, tomorrow I will have my Shakeology for breakfast, an apple mid-morning, hibachi house for lunch (grilled teriyaki veggies, Chinese soup and salad, and probably some yummy noodles), protein bar mid-afternoon, and Mediterranean veggie sandwich with a pickle and chips from Panera for dinner. At least that’s what I’m planning on. We’ll see how that goes. Check up on me tomorrow?
  15. What is one thought in your head right now? I am absolutely exhausted and can’t wait to close my eyes for 7 hours.

In other news, I am officially moving out of my house. With Luke. June 20. More to come……. Smile

Bad Days and a Survey

Remember how I started yesterday off with my burst of positivity and a goal to have a great Monday? Well, I failed. Just because I say something on here, doesn’t mean I’m going to do it perfectly. Caitlin and I have been discussing the quote, “Do as I say, not as I do,” a lot lately. I may have good intentions for something, but life gets in the way and my plans get messed up. I really just want to put yesterday behind me and move on from that. Don’t even want to talk about it. Today will be better. I have a much shorter schedule, so that’s already a plus!

I will say that yesterday was a swift reality check for me. It gave  me a push in the direction of what I don’t want to do with my life. I was very unhappy all day because of that realization and made some bad decisions on account of my mood. It’s hard for me to remember that every moment is a new opportunity and I don’t need to wait until tomorrow to start over and make things better. Anyone know of a tattoo that incorporates that? I feel like I need to get it right on the top of my hand. Not even joking. Well, kinda.

I think one of my biggest issues I’m facing right now is living at home in my parents house. I love my family to death. They’re fantastic. However, I feel like now that I’m a college graduate trying to start my own life, it’s really just setting me back living here. I know it’s helping financially, but I’m starting to be at that point where I know I need to take the leap and get a place away from them. I know that I will be more productive and positive in my own place. It’s gotta happen. You guys know how stressful it is to move out. All the responsibilities that come with it, the financial obligations, etc. I lived on my own while in college, but this is different. This is the real world. Just something I’ve been thinking about a lot lately. Moving on!

I thought I would give you guys a survey today. I hope that some of you will fill it out as well! I love learning more about you guys Smile

1. Have you ever been searched by the cops?

Nope. I have been pulled over my fair share of times though. And I used to work for a police station in college so I’ve definitely ridden in a few cop cars as well.

2. Do you close your eyes on roller coasters?

I do not ride roller coasters at all. I am absolutely terrified. I think the only person I would get on a roller coaster for is Ellen DeGeneres or to save one of my future children.

3. When’s the last time you’ve been sledding?

Probably back in college. It was different when I was young with a bunch of other people like me and had some alcohol in my system. Now it’s just cold and wet.

4. Would you rather sleep with someone else, or alone?

Um, alone. Sorry Luke! <3

5. Do you believe in ghosts?

I do not.

6. Do you consider yourself creative?

Once again, I do not. Not at all. I like consistency and the same thing over and over. I should really develop a creative side though. I could probably benefit from that. I cringe whenever the kiddies want me to do a craft with them, because I will definitely not be able to do it up to their ridiculously high standards.

7. Do you think you lead an active lifestyle?

Yes, I do. When I’m home I am usually lazy as all get-out, but I’m literally running around all day long when I’m gone. Add on exercising 6 days a week and I’m pooped!

8. Jennifer Aniston or Angelina Jolie?

Jennifer Aniston. Biggest girl-crush on her ever. Definitely had the “Rachel” hairstyle back in the day.

9. Can you honestly say you know ANYTHING about politics?

Nope. It’s about time I learn though, yeah?

10. Do you know how to play poker?

Not a clue in the world. I rock at blackjack though.

11. Have you ever been awake for 48 hours straight?

No way! I can barely get through my days without a nap.

12. What’s your favorite commercial?

I like the new Sofia Vergara diet pepsi ones. Mainly just because I think she’s gorgeous.

13. Who was your first love?

Luke. One and only <3

14. If you’re driving in the middle of the night, and no one is around you, do you run a red light?

No! I’m way too much of a chicken for that.

15. Do you have a secret that no one knows but you?

Yes I do.

16. Hockey or basketball?

Not really a fan of either, but Luke has definitely got me into hockey in recent years. I truly enjoy going to games with him.

17. Have you ever been ice skating?

I have! I used to take lessons when I was younger, but just go occasionally with Luke now. He’s amazing from all his years of hockey. I make a fool out of myself.

18. How often do you remember your dreams?

Almost never. I remember bits and pieces sometimes, but never big details.

19. What’s the one thing on your mind?

I am really pissed at Desiree’s brother on The Bachelor right now.

20. Do you always wear your seat belt?

Yes I do. I know of way too many people who have been in accidents without their seatbelts and had very sad results.

21. What talent do you wish you had?

I wish I could sing. I am SO bad. Like, you don’t even know how bad.

22. Do you like Sushi?

I do not. Maybe I’ve just never tried a good kind, but the only kind I’ve ever had made me gag.

23. What do you wear to bed?

Huge sweatpants and a huge t-shirt.

24. Do you truly hate anyone?

Only murderers.

25. If you could sleep with one famous person, who would it be?

Am I really about to say this on the internet? Channing Tatum. Luke and I made our “lists” once before. That was a hilarious conversation.

26. Do you know anyone in jail?

I do not.

27. What food do you find disgusting?

28. Have you ever made fun of your friends behind their back?

Made fun of, no. Talked about, sad to say yes.

29. Have you ever been punched in the face?

No way! These are some crazy questions.

30. Do you believe in love at first sight?

I do not. I think you need to get to know someone first.

Your turn! <3

Ask Away!

Thanks for all your well wishes about my crappy day yesterday Smile

Last night helped. It was filled with exactly what I predicted: some Cabernet, some Bachelor (oh heyyyy Sean Lowe Smile with tongue out), and some cheerios. Yes, that was my choice for dinner last night. My head was pounding and I wanted to put no effort what-so-ever into a meal. I had an apple too if that counts for anything.

Moving on……

I’m going to start up somewhat of a “Question and Answer” ordeal on Tuesdays. Since this is the first time, I’m going to start it out with this survey, but I would love, love, LOVE, if you guys submitted questions for me to answer next week! Also, any suggestions for a catchy lil title for this? Let me know Smile Jeez, I use smiley faces way too much. I feel mean if I don’t sometimes. I fall into that pattern texting too; gotta stop.

  • What is on your desktop wallpaper?

Okay, not even kidding. It was a cat wearing this ridiculous hat for like, a year. But since I updated all the stuff on my laptop this past weekend, I have Bing now and my background changes every day. Kinda cool, but I miss my cat. And now I can’t find the picture anymore Sad smile

  • What is your favorite zoo animal?

Sharks! Or seals if there’s so salt-water tank.

  • What was your favorite toy as a child?

Polly Pockets.

polly pocket

  • What kind of hairstyle do you have?

Curly curly curly. My hair is just a bunch of crazy curls if I just let it air dry after showering, which is exactly what I did today.

  • What is on the shirt you’re wearing right now?

An emblem from the dance program at the college I went to.

  • What is the picture nearest to you of?

The girls I nanny for. Precious-ness to the max.

Oil and vinegar, with some bread dipping spices mixed in. I learned this trick from Courtney!

Olives. Yuck.

  • What do you do on a Sunday night?

Um, absolutely nothing. I’m about to start watching Walking Dead again though!!!!!!!!!! Open-mouthed smile

  • How big is your computer display?

I don’t even know what that means. Obviously very tech-savvy.

  • What pair of shoes do you wear most often?

My Sperry’s and my Tom’s equally I would have to say.

  • What is your favorite Thanksgiving food?

Mashed potatoes! Mmmmmm. I wish I could eat these every day. I probably will when I finally get my own place. Uh oh.

  • What is your favorite pizza topping?

Just cheese. And extra tomatoes. I like a lot of sauce and only a little bit of cheese on my pizza. And I like it super thin and crispy.

  • What time do you plan on waking up tomorrow?

6:00 a.m., like every other day. Yuck.

  • What is your favorite day of the year?

That’s actually a really good question. I would have to say that it varies every year and that I probably don’t decide until the end of the year.

teacup pig

Has anyone ever seen the teacup pig episode of HIMYM?! I need one. Immediately. If anyone is looking for something to get me for Valentine’s Day…*cough cough LUKE cough cough*

Answer any question above you want and submit one for me pleeease! Smile

Sunshine Award

When I saw that Brooke over at Running in Heels nominated me for the Sunshine Award earlier today I was pretty pumped, because I’ve had a crazy couple of days and have had no time to take pictures or even really thinking of topics for the blog. So thanks Brooke for helping me out!

I started this blog less than a month ago and I’m psyched that people actually read it!

So I have to answer the questions and nominate 10 people; easy enough.

1. Who is your favorite philosopher?

Um, really? Sorry but I’m not that smart. Let’s just go ahead and say Ellen.

Ellen DeGeneres, Bob Harper And Cobra Starship On "The Tonight Show With Jay Leno"

2. What is your favorite number?

24. I have no idea why, but it always has been.

3. What is your favorite animal?

If we’re talking practical, I’ll go with cats. If we’re going all out, it’s a shark.

4. What are your Facebook and Twitter?

Facebook: Allison Hayes
Twitter: @allison_marie91 (personal) and @arealisticlife (business); FOLLOW BOTH AND I’LL <3 YOU.

5. What is your favorite time of day?

I love like 7-8pm. It’s just a chill time for taking off real pants, watching some TV, and having some snacks.

6. What was your favorite holiday?

Christmas, hands down. Hopefully this year will be the best one yet. Luke and I have a goal to have our own place by Christmas-time, so fingers crossed!

7. What is your favorite physical activity?

I know people have mixed opinions about it, but I love hot yoga. I just feel like I can move in any way in the whole world and I feel completely empty when I’m done. It’s super relaxing and a good way to make your body feel powerful. I also love stretching everything out and hearing stuff in my body crack that was holding onto pent up energy that is now released; awesome.

8. What is your favorite non-alcoholic drink?

I like Brooke’s answer of wine. But probably water, green tea, black coffee, and shamrock shakes from McDonalds. Oops, that’s like 5 answers? And milkshakes aren’t healthy? Oh well. Life goes on.

9. What is your favorite flower?

I’m probably the only girl in the world that will say this, but I truly don’t like flowers. If I had to pick I would probably say sunflowers.

10. What is your passion?

My passion is for contentment. I want to be content and I want to help others become content. I love fitness, I love kids, and I love organization. My passion is for incorporating all those things into my life on a daily basis and being successful and doing something important.

Here’s my 10 nominations!

Jessie @ Jessie Loves to Run

Sarah @ Picky Runner

Taryn @ Peace and Pizza

Alex @ The Run Within

Ashley @ Almost Veg Girlie

Kate @ Quarter Century Southern Living

Sam @ Better with Sprinkles

Lindsay @ A Runnaroundd Life

Kerry @ Totes My Oats

Hollie @ Fueled by LOLZ

You guys, my links suck. It’s not working for me to tonight. I know there’s a bunch of empty spaces, but I just don’t have the time or energy to figure out the issue right now. Bear with me!

Is anyone else watching Pretty Little Liars right now? Is Spencer breaking your heart, too?!?! :(

Blank Mind + Surveys

I literally have no thoughts in my mind today. Weird. Nothing exciting is going on, I have the day off work, and I’m sick. Hence, me laying in bed all day watching Magic Mike, drinking tea, and working on some training plans for new clients. Excitement up the WALL.

magic mike

I mean I guess that’s kinda exciting….. ;)

So I thought it would be a perfect day to do this healthy living survey I found over on Carrots N’ Cake the other day. Enjoy!

1. What did you eat for breakfast?

I actually made myself something different for breakfast, rather than my usual yogurt bowl! This is a toasted english muffin with peanut butter and apple.

2. How much water do you drink a day?

A lot. I usually have 6-8 16 oz. waterbottles, depending on how intense my workouts are. I’ve never really drank pop (except for the occasional diet coke and whiskey….oops), so it’s always just been water.

3. What is your current favorite workout?

I love taking group exercise classes. Whether it is jazzercise, pilates, spin, bootcamp, or hot yoga, I’m obsessed. However, I also like to run outside when the weather is nice. And I love Jillian Michaels workout DVD’s. I’m very versatile :p

4. How many calories do you eat a day?

I have no idea; I don’t count. If you look at my last post though, you’ll see my new plan to get my body back in shape after months of not treating it as I should.

5. What are your favorite healthy snacks?

I am a snack-a-holic. Here we go:

- apple with almond butter
- trail mix (especially any kind from TJ’s)

- hummus and fresh vegetables
- Whole Foods fruit & nut bars
- Annie’s organic fruit snacks
- homemade smoothies

- protein pancakes
- fruit salad

6. What do you usually eat for lunch?

It honestly varies every day, from a PB&J to soup, salad, and breadsticks at Olive Garden and everything in between.

7. What is your favorite body part to strength train?

My legs. I grew up as a dancer, so I love seeing the definition in my muscles when I exercise. I also have super strong legs so I’m able to do things people wouldn’t think I could!

8. What is your least favorite body part to strength train?

My arms. I have a really weak upper body, and I get frustrated when my muscles give out so early on in a workout.

9. What are your “bad” food cravings?

A better question is what don’t I crave? I literally want everything. Ice cream, pizza, candy, french fries, frozen drinks, pancakes, everything. I’m human. It’s sad that that’s what we have become accustomed to.

10. Do you take vitamins or supplements?

Not unless you count the gummy vitamins I eat with breakfast every day like a five year old. I’m on a lot of different medications because I have bad blood and anything can interfere with them, so I’m encouraged by my doctor not to.

11. How often do you eat out?

Way too much. 3 or 4 times a week probably.

12. Do you eat fast food?

Not at all. The one thing I allow myself is ONE shamrock shake every season from McDonald’s. I can’t resist. I do love Panera and Subway, but those aren’t your traditional fast food places.

13. Who is your biggest supporter?

My boyfriend, Luke<3

14. Do you have a gym membership?

I do! I actually am a personal trainer at that same gym as well :) Come hang with me if you live in Michigan.

15. How many hours of sleep do you get a night?

7ish during the week, 8ish on the weekends. I think about going to bed as soon as I wake up in the morning. Sleep rocks.

16. Do you have a “cheat” day?

Every day, let’s be real. If I really want something, I eat it.

17. Do you drink alcohol?

I do. Cabernet mostly. Or a gin and soda. Or Labatt blue. Or skinny margaritas. So yes, yes I do.

18. Do you have a workout buddy?

Sometimes! Not usually though. I prefer to do things on my own, at my own pace, with no distractions.

19. What is the best thing that has changed about your life since committing to a Healthy Lifestyle?

I have more knowledge about what I need to do to look and feel my best. I may not always do what I should, but at least I have that background knowledge now. I enjoy teaching others about living a healthy lifestyle and am truly interested in it.

20. What was the last healthy thing you did?

I realized that I’m sick and chose to drop all my planned activities for the day and rest.

Happy almost weekend!

Answer any of these questions in the comments below :)
